What We Believe

The beliefs of Prayer Mount Fellowship include:

  1. The Bible
Because of the historical, archeological, and experiential evidence, we hold that the sixty-six books of the Bible are inspired by God, without error, and the final authority on all matters of life. (2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12)
  2.

  3. God
God has revealed himself as an eternal and personal being and the only true God.  He is all powerful, all knowing, and is present everywhere at all times.  He exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:2, 26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Exodus 3:14; Psalm 8:4; John 8:58; John 10:30; John 14:16, 17)
  4.

  5. Jesus
Jesus is God’s only Son.  He was born of the virgin, Mary.  He lived a life of obedience to God without sin, so He could become a perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind by His death on the cross.  He presently lives in heaven, at the right hand of God. (John 1:1, 14; Hebrews 4:15; 1 John 4:10)
  6.

  7. The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God living in every believer to commune with him, lead him, produce Godly character, impart spiritual gifts for service in the local church, and empower him through the baptism of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 3:16, Luke 10:11-13; Acts 1:5, 8; 1 Corinthians 12:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Romans 8:14; Galatians 5:22-23)
  8.

  9. The Good News of the Kingdom of God
The good news is that Jesus Christ died on the cross as the full sin payment for mankind, and to offer them the opportunity to be restored to the Kingdom of God.  After His death he was placed in a tomb where He remained for three days.  Jesus was then resurrected to life and presently lives in all believers through His Spirit.  (Luke 9:2; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 8:16)
  10.

  11. Angels
Angels are spirit beings created by God for the purpose of serving in His kingdom.  Holy angels are those spirit beings who remained in God’s service and presently work for the advancement of God’s kingdom.  Fallen angels are those spirit beings who rebelled against God under the leadership of Lucifer (Satan) and presently work for the destruction of God’s kingdom.  (Hebrews 1:14; John 10:10, 12; Ephesians 6:10-12; Revelation 12:9, 10, 12)
  12.

  13. The Free Gift of Eternal Life
Eternal life is God’s free gift to anyone who trusts Christ’s death on the cross as payment for the sins that separate him from God, and who receives that gift for himself as he confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord. (John 3:16, Romans 3:26; Romans 6:23; Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9-10, Colossians 2:14)
  14.

  15. Man
God created man in His image.  The first man, Adam and his wife, Eve, sinned by eating fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Since then, all have sinned and are in need of a new birth.  Man has a body, soul, and spirit and exists to fellowship with God and to govern His creation.  (Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Revelation 3:20)
  16.

  17. The Church
God’s church is expressed on earth through local communities of believers who exists to do whatever it takes to reach unbelievers with the good news of the kingdom of God and help them to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.  (Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 1:8)
  18.

  19. Things to Come
Jesus will soon physically return to condemn unbelievers to eternal separation from God and to reward His faithful followers.  (Matthew 13:24-29, 37-43; Acts 1:10-11)
  20.

  21. The Kingdom of God
Jesus preached “the good news of the kingdom” and told his disciples to tell the people that “the kingdom of God is near you.”  The kingdom of God arrived with Jesus Christ and we have the opportunity to live in it today and to proclaim it to others.  (Matthew 4:23; Luke 9:2; Luke 10:9)
